LUNAPARK

Close your eyes and listen to the music of Lunapark. You will find yourself in a world of colorful imagery and love. The songs of Lunapark are full of bright and light emotions that bring quiet calm and happiness to our hectic lives.

Lunapark are a band from Ukraine featuring the elegant and seductive vocals of Polina Golubkova and Dmitry Demchenko on guitars and keyboards. During live performances Polina and Dmity are joined by Oleksa Volinsky on bass and keyboards with Maks Shevchuk on drums.

The group delivers a pop mix of melodies and fun emotions of love in all its variety. Polina’s sensitive, but at times powerful voice, brings an unusual delicate timbre to Dmitry’s enchanting lyrics. Oleksa’s subtle bass and Mak’s drum lines are carefully layered on this mix to produce songs that inspire you to dance one moment and quietly reflect the next.

The band members were friends long before they came together to form Lunapark. Polina & Dmitry knew each other since elementary school. Dmitry met Oleksa on a party while he was finishing recording an album for Dmitry’s first band, Dominion. After a long evening of conversations about music they agreed to meet the following day and play music together. The result was both surprising and powerful.

Shortly after this, Polina went to Italy to participate in a singing competition. Much to her surprise, she won. When she returned home the three friends played together as a group for the first time and the result was amazing. Later, to fill out their sound, Maks joined them on drums.

Dmitry’s songwriting comes from his emotions and personal situations. Polina brings her warmth and soul to the music. She believes music is something that comes from the inside and there is always a place inside each of us for positive thinking and accepting what life brings us. While Lunapark's Rock-a-Pop sound is fresh, the band does have influences that range from Dido and Avril Lavigne to Keane and James Blunt.

In 2005 Lunapark worked with famous British producer Fran Ashcroft, whose credits include Damon Albarn (Gorrilaz), the Dandy Warhols and several others. The result were the “PopSong” and “Beautiful Stares” singles. These singles brought Lunapark's music to a new level and soon Lunapark signed a digital distribution deal with Black Wasp LLC/IODA, the American company operated by the former manager of Eminem's band, D12. In early 2007 the band finished recording their full-length album. It's a bit pop. It's a bit rock. That's why they called it Rock-a-Pop!
